Van Gogh - Update - June 4

Our little buddy made yet another friend today when he met our longtime resident, Cassie. Cassie came to us quite a while ago when she was abandoned in her home after her owners became .. otherwise detained. Someone was supposed to come by and take care of Cassie but eventually, they abandoned Cassie too.

When our Animal Control Officer Maria was alerted to a dog in danger that needed to be rescued, she rushed right out to find Cassie in some real trouble. It seems Cassie finally had enough of being left alone without food or water and tried to get out. She got herself stuck on the broken glass on the storm door and when Maria found her, she was wedged in between the glass, half inside and half outside.

Maria acted quickly and kept Cassie calm while she carefully lifted her out of the doorway. Thankfully, Cassie only suffered some minor cuts and scrapes, but she never forgot who saved her. Now, when Cassie sees Maria, she runs to greet her and dives in her arms, obviously still thanking her for saving her life. We're hopeful that after all these months, we may finally have someone who is seriously interested in the lovely Cassie, so please keep your fingers crossed for her!

Vinnie just loved meeting Cassie, as he always loves making new friends. Vinnie is still not quite ready to play off-leash with other dogs, but he's getting there. He is enjoying himself with just meeting other dogs now and taking walks with them, and just watching his happy reaction to other dogs is just so great to see. To think that Vinnie got in the horrendous condition that he was in just four short months ago when he was attacked by another dog, and to see him loving dogs now, is such an inspiration. But that's our Vinnie .. inspirational and constantly amazing us!

Vinnie is continuing with his daily exercises and his hips are getting stronger and stronger every day. He is still experiencing some stiffness in his joints, so he will need more exercise, of course, but he has made such progress. He will also start professional training next week, so he's really looking forward to that! As always, thank you for following Vinnie along on his journey, and please stay tuned for more from the Invincible Vinnie!
