AHS was alerted to poor conditions for animals at the Broadway Pet Shop in Newark. Under the direction of Asst. Director Scott Crawford, four ambulances were dispatched to the scene to rescue over 223 animals including puppies, kittens, dogs, chinchillas, tarantulas, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, rats, cockatiels, canaries, parakeets, fish, turtles, finches, snakes, doves, etc. It took several trips back to the store to gather more animals.
Just a few of the parakeets enjoying clean, spacious caging, toys and fresh water and food.
This rescue was about a lot of animals in distress. Everybody involved in helping these animals did an unbelievable job. Thanks to all who helped.
Pictured are just a few of the animals whose lives are already vastly improved.
The dogs and cats and many of the birds are at the AHS Tinton Falls shelter. For more information on those, call the AHS at 732-922-0100 or e-mail us.
