Marley - Given Up Due to Inability to Pay for Medical Care

The armchair animal rights executives who believe that an animal should be adopted out with no concerns for the financial well being of the adopter should spend a day or two at AHS' Newark Animal Care Center. We are criticized for requiring a modest adoption fee and will not pass our pets at no charge. Animal lovers who would not give up a pet for a million bucks must sadly do so because they opt not to spend any money for pet insurance which would solve the health horrors that a dog or cat might endure.

Marley was given up after the 4 year old had a skin infection. Sounds like a mild concern but when left untreated, flares up to such an extent that it is problematical and the animal was surrendered.

Marley had the beginning of a skin infection -- but untreated, encompassed a portion of the head and it became a severe skin infection -- a swollen face and two badly infected ears. Her paws were bloodied from scratching her ears to gain some relief.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier has responded to the medications and will be available for adoption shortly. Thanks to donations to the Res-Q Fund, we were able to spend several weeks with Marley in our Medical Dept.

Your donation to this fund will help us to continue this effort to help those in need in our open-door policy.

For more information on Marley, call AHS at 973-824-7080 or e-mail us and refer to File 16775-SF.

See Marley's progress in her January 12th update.
