Jordan - Turned in Days Before A Preventable Death

Jordan is a 5 year old Mastiff who was given to AHS only a few days before she would have died.

A huge pendulous tumor hung down to the floor as she arrived and the owner said they could no longer care for her. She was brought to our AHS Tinton Falls shelter where Dr. Emily Marion performed the surgery. What the veterinarian discovered was a life-threatening pyrometra infection since she had never been spayed. Spaying and neutering your pets is one of the MOST IMPORTANT responsibilities you have as an owner.

Not only does it prevent unwanted births, it will reduce cancer risk, control aggressive behavior and will prolong the life of your companion. The failure of a pet owner to alter their pet puts their companion's life in jeopardy and creates additional veterinary costs.

Jordan has established herself in the front office and is the most lovable dog in the shelter! From time to time, she will walk over to one of the front office staff and lay her head on their lap. She had an owner who failed her . now she needs a new life to celebrate the re-birth of her health.

The majority of animals that arrive at AHS are in dire need of veterinary care, spay/neuter, dental, grooming and their owners have not taken on full responsibility for caring for their pet. It is no wonder that our Res-Q Fund is constantly in need of replenishing.

If you want to meet a beautiful Mastiff with a placid personality, come and meet Jordan. She is at our Tinton Falls branch - 2960 Shafto Road in Tinton Falls - near the Route 33-34 Circle. For more information, call 732-922-0100 or e-mail us.
