Roselle Pit Bulls - Saved from Freezing Weather

When the temperature quickly dropped to bone-chilling numbers and the snow started, the AHS received numerous complaints concerning the welfare of outside dogs. AHS ACO, Anthony McGovern went to a Roselle residence where he had previously been contacted concerning 19 pit bulls that were being housed under unsanitary conditions, poor shelter, lack of food and water.

The AHS was there with the local health dept. and spca with no action taken by them as an amateurish decision that the dogs "had no place to go". The owner was given a week to find an alternative. As the Animal Control for the town, we stood ready to accept them but had not been given authority to take the dogs.

A few days later when the temperature dropped, we were called in by the spca for a welfare check and discovered three dogs kept in a shed without heat that were shivering from the cold. Although the dogs were robust, they could not deal with the cold and one of them had a very bad ear infection. The owner gave up ownership of those 3 dogs to AHS and advised that the rest of the dogs at his residence would be gone in 2 hours.

Within a short time, those dogs were picked up by several motorists under the discerning eye of the spca....and we have no idea of what type of a future is being planned for them.

The three dogs are now at the AHS Tinton Falls shelter and they are sweet and in need of a permanent home. They have been christened Merlot, Chardonnay and Cabernet. And just like a fine wine, it is a sure fire way to keep warm with a devoted companion by your side.

A donation to our Res-Q Fund is for the unexpected, unplanned rescues with necessary medical care and a vigorous adoption program! You can text to donate: HumaneHelp at 41444.
