Erick - Dumped in Park, Too Weak and Frightened to Run

Branch Brook Park, located between Newark and Belleville, is home of the Cherry Blossom Festival and the first county park to be opened for public use in the U.S.

It is also known as a popular dumping ground for unwanted pets.

Many sad, tragic stories have emanated from Branch Brook Park that AHS has rescued and this fella is the latest. By the time he was discovered in the park, he was too weak, too feeble and too frightened to run from the AHS Animal Control Officer. The young male was brought back to the Society's Newark facility where he has been placed in the Medical Dept. for further care. Although he was somewhat petrified upon arrival, when the vet tech started hand feeding morsels of food, he relaxed and realized he didn't mind staying at the Society it's a good place to be!

Someone shirked their responsibility -- an all too frequent occurrence in the inner city. Thanks to our Res-Q Fund, we continue to help the pathetic animals who should have been brought to us instead of finding a dumping ground where they would languish until they gave up on life. We call him Erick and find that as needy as he is for sustenance, he is starving for the gentle hand and loving heart that is missing in his existence.

For more information on Erick, call the AHS at 973-824-7080 or e-mail us and refer to File 19416-M.
