The intensity and gravity with the constant stream of cruelties has greatly increased. It is heartbreaking to see the pathetic experience that fate has befallen on a dog that only wanted love and companionship.
Was this pit bull given away "free to a good home" -- or perhaps he strayed from his home -- or stolen from his backyard. In any event, he was found wandering on the streets.
It is believed that a chemical had been thrown on his head as well as being struck with a sharp object. Frightened and leary of more cruelty heaped upon him, he has been slow to warm up to people.
And when one of our staffers bent down outside of his kennel to befriend him, the injured pit bull crept slowly up to the front of the fencing & kissed him. (Although he seems to have a preference for the female staffers who came to visit him).
Sadly, stray pit bulls are targeted for abuse -- stoning, chasing, set on fire, burned with chemicals, attacked by other dogs.
Yolo was physically exhausted & needed some respite for the onslaught of cruelty he had experienced & laid on the front steps of a home. The tenant called for assistance & the AHS rescued the pit bull.
Thanks to donations to the Res-Q Fund , we continue to medically care for, rehabilitate and rehome those that arrive in a constant stream and in need of "a new leash on life".
