Nina - Found Locked in Shed

The legal terminology for a dog is that it is considered property...like a tv or a phone or a lawnmower. So when not in use, you lock it up with the rest of your possessions. But a tv doesn't need love...and a lawnmower doesn't require your petting.

Could there be any legitimate reason to lock your dog in a shed? Never mind that it is during a heat wave...never mind that there is no food or water available...never mind that it does not see anyone....but locked up away from people...and the only bad luck this dog had is to be "owned" by an uncaring creep. The chances are that this creep will only obtain another dog and it will have the same life as "Nina" endured.

Does the reverence for the life of a dog start at home with the family? Do they teach school kids to respect wildlife? Many of the kids from the inner city do not have the opportunity to see, appreciate or respect the beauty, the fragility or the love that animals can give. AHS has given over a century of caring to animals and see the same mindset in many people. Your donation to the ResQ fund will help Nina and our continued efforts to help animals.

For more information on Nina, call AHS at 973-824-7080 and refer to File 22410 or e-mail associatedhumane@aol.com
