How tragic that starving, emaciated dogs are a routine rescue in Newark. Our Animal Control Officer, Tom Circle, picked up the very young male pit bull after a resident found the dog wandering the streets. They called the Police Dept. who contacted AHS.
Due to the severity of his condition, "Lionel" was brought to the Animal Emergency & Referral Association in Fairfield for a few days. He was then brought to the Associated Humane Societies in Tinton Falls for further care. Lionel is one of the sweetest dogs at the shelter. It is sad that there is such a detachment by dog owners for the needs and suffering of such loyal creatures.
If you would like to help in Lionel's care, please donate to the Res-Q Fund or call AHS at 732-922-0100
or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and refer to File 28018-M. AHS is open 7 days a week and welcome your visits from noon until 5 p.m. Stop in and meet the most loyal, lovable guy waiting for "a new leash on life".
