Meet Gilligan! He is about 7 years old and arrived at Popcorn Park Zoo after he trashed his owners house about 2 1/2 years ago. While his owner was at work one day on that fateful day, Gilligan figured out how to open the series of wire ties and bolts his owner used to keep him in his small cage. It was bound to happen sooner or later, after all he had all day to sit there and try.
Once free, he started with the TV but soon decided that day soap operas weren't for him and moved on to cruise the Internet. It didn't take long before he wanted to see how far he could throw the two computer monitors. Figuring that wasn't enough, he tried weight lifting the computer towers trying to determine how high they would bounce. Then moving to the bathroom (which he hadn't thought of using all morning while in the rest of the house) he had a ball in there, especially after he saw himself in the mirror. Getting hungry, the kitchen was next, and what he cooked up, should have been on the TV Food Network.
When the owner returned from work that evening, Gilligan wouldn't let him back in the house. so the owner called his local animal control and they in turn called us, After a little work and a lot of coaxing, we got him back in a larger cage. Fish & Wildlife asked us to take Gilligan to Popcorn Park Zoo. And that is how Gilligan became a resident of the Zoo.
Here he is now, Giving himself a manicure. Then pondering what to get into next. If you would like to help feed Gilligan please consider sponsoring him in the Wildlife Club. A year's membership is only $36 and having been alone in a cage for so long, he would really love some new friends!.
