Kate Recovering in Administrative Offices



We are happy to report that Kate, the 10-month old pit bull mix who was sodomized in Newark, is doing much better and will be able to go up for adoption as early as one to two weeks. Kate, named after her veterinary caretaker, Dr. Kate Palmer, at Garden State Veterinary Services is eating, healthy, and becoming more friendly and animated. She has been moved to our Newark facility where she is receiving her inoculations and the rest of her medication while she continues to heal, but most importantly, being showered with love and affection from staff..

Kate is enjoying her stay in the Administrative Offices every day, where for the first time in her life, she is being treated like a Princess – and she has her own pillow to prove it! (see photo). In the office, she can become used to a doting staff as well as begin to acclimate to people coming in and out as well as other animals. Staff wants to ensure that she will not be fearful of strangers and hopes that this socialization will build her confidence. At the same time, we will become more familiar with her personality and the type of home that will work best for her.

AHS continues to ask anyone who has any information about this incident to come forward. A total reward of $12,000 has been posted. If someone is convicted of the crime, penalties range up to $7,500 in fines and 18 months behind bars.
