Bonnie and Clyde, Elusive Doggy Duo Hopes for Love

Bonnie and Clyde were two strays running through the Alabama woods, eluding everyone who tried to lure them. They must have been hungry, thirsty, and tired, but they still ran from those who would help them. Finally, after four weeks of trying to rescue them, the two were coaxed into the car of a woman who rescues strays from Alabama shelters, often before they are euthanized in gas chambers.

She immediately contacted us and asked if we could take in the pair of strays. Meanwhile, the two stayed at the home of the rescuer, where Clyde never lost sight of his girl, Bonnie, who was about to give birth.

Preparations were in place to bring the devoted pair north to Popcorn Park, but Bonnie’s pregnancy kept her from making the trip earlier this year, so Clyde came alone and waited. And waited. And waited for his Bonnie. Bonnie gave birth to and weaned nine healthy pups, all of whom went to a reputable Alabama rescue and eight weeks later, Bonnie finally was reunited with her companion.

The instant Clyde saw Bonnie, he went crazy with joy and enthusiasm. It took Bonnie a couple seconds before she realized it was Clyde jumping all over and around her. Then she no longer cared where she was or who these new people were, she, too, burst into joy to see him.

Bonnie and Clyde have been inseparable ever since. The pair is now looking for a family. Because of their circumstances, they will only be adopted together. After having been through so much together and having been finally reunited, they truly need and depend on each other. How could we separate a now infamous pair – Bonnie and Clyde!

If you are interested in providing a fabulous lifetime home to Bonnie and Clyde, please contact us for an application, or if you’d like to visit them, you can visit our Forked River Shelter. And if Bonnie and Clyde are not the couple for you, please remember there are hundreds of dogs and cats at all three of our shelters in Forked River, Tinton Falls and Newark just waiting to be your forever companions.

Can’t have a pet? Why not give the gift of love through sponsorship on our Share-A-Pet program? Each cat or dog has a special story and is so deserving of love – consider sharing the warmth of the holidays with one of our Share-A-Pets or make a holiday donation to support our life-saving efforts. We love to give the chance of a lifetime to Bonnie, Clyde and so many more.

Great News: Bonnie and Clyde have been adopted together into a loving home.
