AHS Saves More Hurricane Gustav Dogs

There are continuing efforts to help Hurricane Gustav animals that have either been left behind or those animals that are in overcrowded shelters. Most pounds in Louisiana have a 90% euthanasia rate and most animals that are received never again know the kindness or warmth of a loving home. All are euthanized in cruel, barbaric gas chambers.

Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah contacted the Society to help in their quest to find homes for the many unwanted dogs. There is always a compelling pressure to move as many animals as possible as more coming in every day. They arrived at the Society's Popcorn Park facility with six small dogs and the climate-controlled truck was filled with many more dogs going to other shelters in New Jersey, New York and New Hampshire. No animals at the Society were euthanized to take these terrier mixes in.
