Horribly Matted Shih Tzus Dumped in Park

Daisy shortly after she arrived. Below left is Donald.

When a Society Animal Control Officer (ACO) was riding an ambulance through Newark's Weequahic Park, he was alerted by a few passersby that they witnessed a grey Cadillac dump two dogs out of the car.

The Shih Tzus, a male and female, were both horrifically matted and were extremely emaciated. The ACO quickly picked them up and brought them to the Newark's Medical Dept. for immediate care.

Within an hour, they were shaved down, cleaned up, given all necessary inoculations and de-worming. They are a female of about 2 years of age and a 1 year old male. We call them Daisy and Donald.

The Society is offering a $1,000.00 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the owner of the Grey Cadillac and the perpetrator of this abandonment.

Thanks to donations to the Society's Res-Q Fund, our non-profit, charitable organization is on the scene as needed.

Daisy and Donald are at the Society's Newark facility waiting along with hundreds of other mixed breeds and purebreds including Rottweilers, Yorkshire Terriers, Jack Russell Terriers, Dogue de Bordeaux, poodles, Siberian Huskies, fox terriers, Chihuahuas, and more! For more information, call the Society at 973-824-7080 or e-mail us. The Society is located at 124 Evergreen Ave. in Newark, 3 blocks from the Elizabeth line and open 7 days a week.

Check out Daisy and Donald's progress - they're having a great time!
