When the Society's canine evaluator was leaving after a long day with our dogs, she drove up the street only to see a motorist hit this pit bull -- he did not stop but just kept on going. The dog was unable to stand and with the help of a passerby, our evaluator got her out of the street and stood by until a Society ambulance picked her up and brought her to the Society's Medical Dept. There were injuries to the head and leg. Sad to say, she has lost her sight. Yet, she lives for the touch of a human and is overjoyed when one holds her and interacts with her. Her little tail never stops wagging and the Medical Dept. staffers agree that her personality is great and she gets along with all including dogs. We have named her Alma which is Latin for "smiling soul."
A donation to our Res-Q Fund helps to offset the tremendous expense of veterinarians, drugs, and the efforts to take care of every animal that comes through our doors.
Just as important as a donation to help Alma is offers to find homes for these lovable, trusting dogs who deserve a safe and loving home.
For more information on Alma, call the Society at 973-824-7080 and refer to File 118127 or e-mail us.
