Blackie had an owner who felt no responsibility for the care and safety of his dog. The young pit bull came in as a stray -- EIGHT TIMES! During those times that the male pit bull arrived, the owner did not want the dog back but changed his mind.
We knew that it was inevitable that sooner or later, the free-wheeling fella would get hit by a car or become the target of abuse.
The last time the owner arrived, he said he decided to take the dog back, but we opted to offer neutering so that the dog would not stray. It was mutually decided that Blackie would find a more suitable, safe forever home through our efforts.
What better time of year than to give a precious present to a homeless dog -- the gift of a forever home! Blackie now waits for Santa ... or one of his helpers. File TF-63324-M
A recent evaluation of Blackie has shown that the young gent is eager to please. He actually learned to "sit" on command for treats which he accepted tenderly. He is easy to walk on a lead and demonstrated excellent manners around the dinner bowl. The scars on his head and calluses on his hocks indicate that this 3 year old Staffordshire terrier has not enjoyed a good life. He needs a new life and renewed hope.
Blackie is at our Tinton Falls Animal Shelter waiting for "a new leash on life". Contact us or call 732-922-0100. The Society is open 7 days a week but will be closing early on Christmas so that staffers can spend it with their families.
